Sydney Sweeney's French Manicure Is a Pretty Twist on a Classic

One thing about Sydney Sweeney? She's going to put a twist on the classic French manicure. Whether it's with tiny hidden gems, adding 3D crystals, abstract tips, or simply swapping white tips for a chocolate color—there's always more than meets the eye to her French nails. So, naturally, for her latest red carpet-appearance, she followed in her own footsteps with a new take on the French tip.

On February 18, Sweeney walked the red carpet of the People's Choice Awards alongside the likes of Billie Eilish and Megan Fox before heading inside, where she was nominated for Comedy Movie Star of the Year for her role in the hit rom-com Anyone But You. Obviously, she had to arrive at the show in style, which she did, down to her subtly shiny French tips.

Done by her go-to manicurist, Zola Ganzorigt, each of Sweeney's nails started with a completely classic French manicure. All of her nails matched with the same baby pink base—which continued from her cuticles until right where her nails extended past her fingers. Then, at the end of her medium-length almond-shaped tips, they quickly transitioned into a bright white tip to finish off the French look.

However, Ganzorigt didn't stop there. In a similar finish to the viral glazed donut chrome manicure, the nail artist dusted each of Sweeney's nails in a light chrome finish to create what she called a "glazed vanilla French"—basically, if the chrome nail trend was made as elegant and minimal as possible.

To go with her nails, Sweeney wore an all-red, skin-tight Mônot gown that was giving '90s supermodel vibes. The plunging halter neckline flowed into a floor-grazing silhouette that covered the heels she wore underneath them. She went completely accessory-less for the outfit. However, she added some drama and flare with her makeup.

Framed by her signature blonde hair in a wavy, flowy middle part, Sweeney's makeup artist Melissa Hernandez added a touch of grunge glamour to the actor's eyes. Both her upper and lower water lines were completely coated in dark black liner, making her blue eyes pop—especially with the dark gray shadow dusted across each lid. The soft smoke added the perfect touch of edge to her otherwise classic look. Her skin had luminous, yet matte finish and the final touch was her lips, which were the perfect matte mauve hue.
