A professional basketball player for the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, Andrew Wiggins, is a Canadian player. After playing college basketball for Kansas for one season, he was chosen by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. Prior to finishing his final two years of high school in the United States, where he was recognized as a McDonald’s All-American, Wiggins spent his formative years in Canada.

He was an All-American second-team selection at Kansas before becoming the second Canuck to be chosen first overall in an NBA draft. Wiggins won NBA Rookie of the Year accolades for the 2014–15 season after being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the preseason.

In 2020, he was traded to Golden State from Minnesota after five and a half seasons there. Wiggins won his first NBA title, was chosen for his first NBA All-Star game, and was a starter for the Western Conference in 2022. He has additionally competed for Canada’s national team.
